Daniel and Genaye Stephenson came to Darwin in 2017 from Albany in Western Australia, via a short stint in Kununurra. They have stayed, rooting themselves in the red soil, not only because they love the lifestyle but because they genuinely love the work they do.

In the early years, Daniel worked for as a carpenter subcontracting to other builders while Genaye developed her own bookkeeping business before they bet everything on going it alone, establishing La Perouse Homes in 2017.

La Perouse focuses on the renovation and extension sector of the market, transforming older Darwin houses into modern but still character-laden homes that complement the tropical landscape.  Daniel and Genaye are not volume builders, they prefer the creativity (and challenge) of renovation and the pleasure gained in seeing old and often dilapidated homes come back to life.

Genaye oversees the financial and business management side of the business and Daniel chooses to be “on the tools” and onsite each day.  He understands the huge emotional and financial commitment people undertake when they choose to build and renovate and when clients see him on the worksite, it gives them confidence.
